One of the leading air-conditioner players – Panasonic India – has pinned high hopes on the AC category and claimed that a majority of the sale growth would come from the e-commerce  platform. Gaurav Sah, Business Head – Air Conditioner Group, Panasonic India said, “In the next few years, e-commerce sale of ACs will outgrow all other modes of sale. Though e-commerce currently contributes around 2% of the total AC sale, we believe that in coming years the growth in sale would be much more on e-commerce than any conventional platform.” He said that most of the growth in e-commerce sale comes from smaller towns of India. “The rural population does not have exposure to showrooms, so he relies on e-commerce more. Much of the AC growth will come from these tier II & III towns in the coming years.”
