Association of Ammonia Refrigeration (AAR) organized the Second National Convention on Ammonia Refrigeration Systems, ARCON 2015, on January 31 at Hotel Four Points by Sheraton, Navi Mumbai. Apart from a seminar, the event included a mini-exhibition. Kishor Manglani gave the welcome address and made a presentation on AAR, which is now three years old. Bhupinder Singh, in his keynote address, highlighted the safety aspects of ammonia usage. Rustom Irani, President, Seafood Exporters’ Association, spoke about tube ice. Chris Combs, Director, International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration (IIAR) talked about the activities of IIAR. Richard Buckley (Director, Industrial Refrigeration – Asia, Johnson Controls) made a presentation on Design Checks for Safe Ammonia Refrigeration Systems. Nick Torres made a product presentation on Evapco Evaporating Condensers. Vinod Jethani (Danfoss) made a product presentation on VLT variable frequency drive. There was a panel discussion on Safe Practices in Ammonia Refrigeration Systems, moderated by Anil Gulanikar (Consultant). The other panelists were H. Egashira (MD, Mayekawa India), P. Sudhirkumar (VP Marketing, Frick India) and Chris Combs. Haresh Rupchandani made a product presentation on Johnson Controls. Tim Kroeger (Danfoss) made a presentation on Avoiding Component Failure in Industrial Refrigeration Systems. P. Sudhirkumar (Frick) and Manish Verma (Baltimore Aircoil) made product presentations. Another panel discussion, on Climate Change, was moderated by Haresh Rupchandani. The other panelists were Dr. Atul Padalkar (Principal, Flora College of Engineering, Pune), K. Raghavan (Johnson Controls) and Nikhil Raj (MD, Neptune Refrigeration). The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks by Haresh Rupchandani, President- Elect, AAR. The event was attended by 240 delegates and supported by 15 companies.
