Awareness Workshop on Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) Phase-out with special focus on CTC, Kigali Amendment and Energy Efficiency, 12 December 2017
Start Date : 12 December 2017 || End Date : 12 December 2017

Dear Member, Awareness Workshop on Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) Phase-out with special focus on CTC, Kigali Amendment and Energy Efficiency, 12 December 2017 We are pleased to invite you to the “Awareness Workshop on Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) Phase-out with special focus on CTC, Kigali Amendment and Energy Efficiency” on 12th December 2017 in Mumbai. The venue of the workshop is Hotel Taj Lands End, Mumbai. As you are aware, India has been making substantial efforts for the protection of the Ozone layer. India has successfully phased-out production and consumption of several major Ozone Depleting Substances (ODSs) including the Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), Carbontetrachloride (CTCs) and halons and met all the compliance obligations of the Montreal Protocol. India is currently implementing the HCFC Phase-out Management Plan (HPMP) in line with accelerated phase-out Schedule for HCFCs. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India, has played a key role in evolving consensus and finalization of Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol during October, 2016 at Kigali, Rwanda. This amendment integrates the issue of controlling ODSs to protect the Ozone Layer with the climate concerns by bringing Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), a high Global Warming Potential (GWP) gas under the ambit of the Montreal Protocol for control. As part of the technical assistance and capacity building activities, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in close cooperation with the MoEFCC is organising an “Awareness Workshop on Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) Phase-out with special focus on CTC, Kigali Amendment and Energy Efficiency”. The objective of the workshop is to create awareness to all the concerned stakeholders on all issues relating to ODS, including sustainability of ODS phase out , Issues related to monitoring and reporting mechanisms, including for CTC, which continues to be produced, primarily from DV acid chloride production, to be used for feedstock applications will be discussed. In addition, the key issues in the Kigali Amendment including the way forward for India will also be addressed and deliberated in the workshop.
