Warm-Climate Countries Launch Solar-Energy Alliance
09 January 2016

India’s prime minister has launched an international alliance of 121 warm-climate countries to promote massive deployment of solar power. Narendra Modi told a press conference at the ongoing Conference of the Parties (COP21) in Paris that the new alliance plans to generate more than $1 trillion in investment by 2030. While signatory nations are mostly from tropical regions, some European countries, including France, are also part of the initiative.
India will host the alliance secretariat and fund its operations until 2021, said Modi.
