Thermax Commissions Solar-based Cooling Project for Honeywell
09 January 2014

Thermax recently commissioned the first commercial solar-based cooling project at Honeywell Technologies Automation Lab in Hyderabad. 128 parabolic trough collectors are integrated with a double effect hot water fired chiller of 100 TR capacity. The solar–based cooling system meshes well with the two existing conventional reciprocating chillers of 120 TR capacity. Over the course of a year, the output of the system is expected to be more than 100,000 ton-hours. Thermax is the largest manufacturer of Absorption chillers in India and also has a manufacturing facility in China for the local market.
