A visit to the JWL cold store facility in Mumbai’s JNPT area will leave one awestruck. The state-of-the-art technology with international standards may make you believe the facility belongs to an MNC. In fact, it is an indigenous enterprise of the Jobanputra family, led by the young scion Raaj Jobanputra. Founder-director Lalit Jobanputra set up the footprint of JW Group comprising a freight forwarding company and container freight stations (CFS) for export-import trade in 1982. Raaj Jobanputra, who was a regular visitor to his father’s office since adolescence, quickly picked up the tricks of the logistics business. Jobanputra says that logistics was a subject of discussion in his
family since his salad days.
The JW Group has been a leading player in the Indian logistics sector for over three decades, with businesses divided in four firms:
• JAC Air Services Pvt. Ltd. — air cargo ground handling activities
• JWC Logistics Park Pvt. Ltd. — CFS focusing on full container load (FCL), DPD Yard and 3PL warehousing and distribution
• JWR Logistics Pvt. Ltd — CFS focusing on less container load (LCL) CFS at JN Port, Nhava Sheva.
• JWL Cold Store Pvt. Ltd. — cold chain warehousing and distribution.
