Panasonic Invests 155 Cr in Refrigerator Factory at Jhajjar

Panasonic Corporation has announced that it has set up a new factory at Jhajjar, Haryana to start local production of refrigerators and strengthen its R&D functions at an investment of Rs.115 Cr. The new factory will be operational by November 2017. The plant, spread across 14,000 sq.m., will manufacture new design refrigerators with energy-saving features, with an annual capacity of half a million refrigerators. The sale of refrigerators from the factory will commence from April 2018. Panasonic will also establish its India R&D centre in Appliances Company India consisting of two technical divisions to develop locally suitable products. The company will also establish a design division in Bangalore in April 2017 in partnership with Tata Elxsi to develop technologies such as artificial intelligence and robotics applicable to appliance products not only for India, but also for Japan and the global markets.
