Haier has announced that it will invest Rs.490 crore in its plant at Ranjangaon near Pune to expand its production capacity four-fold by September 2017. A ground breaking
ceremony was held for the project that involves the building of two new factories covering a total area of 56,000 sqm. In addition, Haier will set up new office buildings, canteens and apartments with a total area of 15,000 sqm. The expanded production base will manufacture products like air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, TVs and water heaters. The expansion will create 2,000 job opportunities for the local population. The newly added capacity will meet the demand of the local market and enable exports to the Middle East, Africa, Russia, South-East Asia, South America and Australia.
