Ford Invention Turns AC Condensate Into Potable Water
24 December 2016

A Ford engineer has developed an in-car dispenser to provide drinking water to the occupants. Named ‘On-the-Go H2O’, the machine has a drinking water tap in the center
console of the car. The water is supplied from the natural condensate of the car’s air conditioner evaporator. The droplets of water that would normally fall below the car are collected in a pan, from where a tube carries them through a filter to a storage tank for an interior faucet-like dispenser. A prototype was displayed at the company’s recent annual ‘Further with Ford’ trend conference. The machine can produce more than 1.9 L of water per hour.
