The first Greenbuild India international conference and expo was held at Bombay Exhibition Centre (BEC), Mumbai from December 2 to 5 under the umbrella of ACETECH. It was supported by International Well Building Institute, Saint-Gobain, Asahi India Glass, UL, Jaquar Group and K. Raheja Corp. ACETECH was inaugurated by  Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the Chief Guest. Also present on the occasion was Guest of Honour Ajoy Mehta – Municipal Commissioner of Mumbai, Mahesh Ramanujam – President & CEO of USGBC as well as Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI), and Sumit Gandhi – CMD of ABEC Exhibitions & Conferences Pvt. Ltd. In his inaugural speech, the CM enumerated the large number of development projects under way and planned in Mumbai and the rest of Maharashtra. The keynote address at the opening plenary was delivered by Edward Mazria of Architecture 2030. A panel discussion on development in Mumbai, held during the opening plenary, was moderated by Anuj Puri of Anarock Property Consultants. The panelists were Ahmad Abdelrazaq of Samsung C&T, Niranjan Hiranandani of Hiranandani Group, Architect Hafeez Contractor, Vikas Oberoi of Oberoi Realty, Babulal Varma of Omkar Realtors and Developers, Sandeep Runwal of Runwal Developers, Ashish Raheja of Raheja Universal and Mili Majumdar of GBCI. The conference, spread over two days, had a number of breakout sessions on diverse topics such as sustainable development, best practices for smart buildings, water security, waste as untapped wealth and performance based IAQ evaluation. The closing plenary was addressed by Afroz Shah, Lawyer and Environmental Organizer, Clean up Versova Beach.
