Facebook to Power Large Data Center With 100% Renewable Energy

Facebook has entered into a partnership with the largest electric provider in New Mexico and two local solar companies to power a massive $1.5 billion under-construction
data center with 100% renewable energy. Public Service Co. of New Mexico will partner with Affordable Solar and Array Technologies on three solar farms that cost a total of $45 million. The 30 MW project in the New Mexico desert will be made up of three 10 MW sites featuring tens of thousands of panels. The first solar site will be adjacent to the data center. Construction will start later this year. All three solar sites are expected to become fully operational in May 2018.
