Emerson Cup 2015 Awards Conferred

Emerson Climate Technologies, a business segment of Emerson, instituted The Emerson Cup Award that encourages and rewards exceptional talent in HVAC&R industry. The annual design competition, launched from China in 2003, made its 8th consecutive appearance in India this year, with Product Innovation introduced as a new category in recognition of changing customer expectations and a need to provide impetus for the introduction of innovative products in the country. The Awards for 2015 were conferred during the Indian Green Building Congress 2015 at Ahmedabad on November 20. Addressing the audience, Sridar Narayanswami, Vice President & Managing Director, Emerson Climate Technologies, said that the HVAC&R industry is a major player in the quest to make the green building movement successful, and it presents exciting opportunities in energy efficiency and improvement of indoor air quality. The Emerson Cup 2015 had four Award categories: New Project – Metropolitan and Emerging Cities; Retrofit Project – Metropolitan and Emerging Cities; Cold Chain Project – Metropolitan and Emerging Cities; and Product Innovation In Cold Chain and Air Conditioning. In the New Project category, the Metropolitan Cities award was conferred on Sterling India for the Spire Edge, Manesar project, while the Emerging Cities award was presented to Reliance Industries Limited for their Reliance Data Center, Jamnagar project. In the Retrofit Project category, the Metropolitan Cities award was jointly presented to Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd. for Upgradation of HVAC System at Godrej-MHE, Vikhroli, and Footprints E.A.R.T.H., Ahmedabad for their project at Evolutionary System Private Limited, Ahmedabad. The Emerging Cities award was won by Vodafone South Limited for the project Vodafone Mobile Telephone Exchange, Hubli. In the Cold Chain – Metropolitan Cities category, Hindustan Unilever Limited won the award for their HeartICE, Mumbai project, while the Emerging Cities award was won by Megastar Engineering for their project Refrigeration System at Real Dairy, Baramati. The newly introduced Product Innovation category – air conditioning saw Blue Star Limited bagging the award for its Precision Packaged Chiller for MRI Scanner. Exercising their discretion, the judges instituted a Jury’s Special Award under this category and presented it to Panasia Engineers Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai for An Innovative Triple Mode Cooler. The Product Innovation – cold chain category saw a Jury’s Special Award being conferred upon Milk-Tech Engineers, and ICRI-NDRI for their Milk Cooling Module. The awards were selected by a distinguished panel of judges comprising highly recognized and influential doyens in the fields of energy efficiency, engineering, architecture, education and HVAC&R Design.
