Earth’s Warmest Year for Three Years in a Row

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and NASA on January 18 both announced that the Earth reached its highest temperature on record in 2016.
It marked the third consecutive year the warmest global temperature was achieved. In 2016, the average global land surface temperature was the highest on record, 2.57°F
(1.43°C) above average. Ocean surface temperatures were also the warmest on record, but only by a small margin.
