Danfoss India has been conferred the Golden Peacock Award for Environment Management. The company has been recognized for its LEED Platinum rated manufacturing facility at the Oragadam campus in Chennai. CSR programs driving sustainability are some the key contributing factors for the award. The awards ceremony was held at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre on July 8 in the presence of Supreme Court Justice Kurien Joseph and several other dignitaries. The awards were distributed amidst a gathering of business leaders from across India during IOD’s 19th World Congress on Environment Management. Danfoss has been developing energy efficient solutions to complement the growing need for sustainable technology in the fields of infrastructure, food supply and climate friendly solutions. Its Oragadam manufacturing facility has a green and sustainable setup, which includes a 1 MW solar power plant, a bio-gas plant, zero liquid discharge waste water treatment plant, rain water harvesting pond, energy efficient fixtures, carbon footprint reduction initiatives, extensive green cover at the campus, etc. Its India CSR program addresses challenges faced in the areas of education, livelihood, health and environment and raising awareness on environment and sustainability in the local communities where it operates.
