Next year, AC giant Daikin will launch the fi rst units with the mildly flammable lower-GWP refrigerant R32, according to Peter Verkempynk, managing director of Daikin UK. The first range will be units up to 6 kW, followed by up to 16 kW units in 2016. The third wave of R32 technology will see its Altherma heat pumps using the refrigerant from 2017, with more phases to follow. In response to concerns over working with mildly flammable gases like R32, he said: “It is our responsibility to make sure that people know how to handle R32.
