Daikin India Inaugurates 2nd Factory at Neemrana

Daikin Airconditioning India Pvt. Ltd. (DAIPL), the fully owned subsidiary of Daikin Industries Ltd. of Japan, commenced operations at its second factory at Neemrana, Rajasthan on November 2. This makes the Neemrana facility the largest HVAC facility in India, highlighting Daikin’s commitment to ‘Make in India’. It uses 50% indigenous components. Daikin is also a partner in the Indo- Japanese ‘Manufacturing Skills Transfer Promotion Program’. The new plant is located next to Daikin’s existing plant in an
area of 160,000 sqm, and entailed a total investment of more than Rs. 2,000 crore since 2010. The facility, with four pairs of 220m long straight assembly lines for indoor and outdoor units, has an annual capacity to manufacture 15 lakh room ACs, 50,000 VRV units, 1 lakh cassette units, 20,000 ductable units and 1,000 chillers, and will use Ozone friendly HFC refrigerant in its residential and commercial ACs in, line with Daikin’s global philosophy of commitment to environmental sustainability. It will use recycled water for its operations. The facility incorporates Daikin’s global Environmental Management System (EMS) – a program in line with the environment standards set by various international agencies including EU standards. It is certified to ISO 9000, ISO 14000, OHSAS 18000, ASME and AHRI standards, and employs QC tools, SQC techniques, 5S and Total Predictive Maintenance. There is a focus on gender diversity, with 20% of the employees in the new plant being women.

Mineno, Senior Executive Officer and GM – Global Operations Division, Daikin Industries Ltd., Japan, said, “The setting up of the second factory will us help better meet the demands and expectations of our burgeoning customer base in India. We will incorporate Daikin’s latest environment friendly air-conditioning technologies and ensure benchmark delivery standards by developing a pool of highly trained staff at this new facility. This investment is a step towards becoming an unstoppable brand in India”. Toshio Nakano, Chairman, Daikin Airconditioning India Pvt. Ltd., added, “By setting up the second facility in India, we aim at reducing the supply lead-time and become more competitive in meeting market needs in terms of product availability and specifications. This will strengthen our competitiveness and cement our leadership in the Indian AC market.” The new facility complements the existing factory. The entire 40 acre manufacturing facility is not only dedicated to production of air conditioners, but also houses an Airconditioning Training and Development Centre to train sales and service personnel, dealer partners from across the country, and a world class R&D Centre.
