Ashok Virmani received the ASHRAE Distinguished Service Award from Society President Bill Bahnfleth during the summer meeting at Seattle in June 2014. Ashok is 67 years, a mechanical engineer, and a founding partner and the Managing Director of Suvidha Engineers India Pvt. Ltd. Incorporated in 1983, the Group achieved annual revenues of over INR 210 crores in 2012-2013 in the contracting and agency business, with over 400 employees across eight branches in India. He is also a promoter director of TAB Air Systems Pvt. Ltd., a third party company with capability for testing, adjusting and balancing HVAC systems. He is also an independent director at Eco Auto Components Limited. After starting his career with Voltas in 1970, he worked in Belgium and Kuwait before founding Suvidha. He joined ISHRAE in 1984. He supported Bangalore Chapter in holding the first ACREX in 1990. Since then, he has been serving ISHRAE in various capacities, including as Chair of the first ever Honors & Awards Committee when he authored the Procedure and Resource Manuals in 2010-12. He was conferred ISHRAE Lifetime Service Award earlier this year. He joined ASHRAE in 1990, was a member of the reception committee during the installation of ASHRAE India Chapter in 1990 at New Delhi, and served as ASHRAE India Chapter President in 1994-95.
