MP Agarwal takes over as National President, ISHRAE

ISHRAE HQ’s newly elected CWC was sworn in on 3rd April at a function held at the Chancery Pavilion in Bangalore. Ashish Rakheja passed the baton over to the new national president, MP Agarwal who will be ably assisted by his team which includes Vikram Murthy as secretary, Rajneesh Joshi as treasurer and Pankaj Shah as president elect. Ashish Rakheja chairs the National Finance Committee, while Sunil Gogate, Raja Sriram, Dipak Barma and Anant Singh are regional directors of west, south, east and north respectively.

Agarwal presented his theme for the year 2009-10 as ‘FEEL the difference’ representing Fellowship (as the essence of ISHRAE as a society with members sharing common professional objectives, who meet, network & benefit), Education (ISHRAE’s continuing objective is achieved through its Institutes of Excellence, workshops, seminars, exhibitions & product presentations), Enhancement (ISHRAE members enhance their careers through opportunities for fellowship and education, while ISHRAE enhances its own image and achievements with the collective efforts of its active membership) and Leadership (ISHRAE’s objective to develop leaders who will contribute to the development of the industry & the environment).

He also announced that ISHRAE programs and projects this year would be in line with the main theme and will have four thrust areas; Food Preservation & Water Conservation, Energy Efficiency, Environment Sustainability and Learning.

The new president has proposed to undertake the following 10 projects for the year. Energy Baseline Data Collection (an ISHRAE-BEE project executed by student chapters under the guidance of Stephen Chinnaswamy, national chair - student activities), Checking Figures for Building Loads for BEE (an ISHRAE-BEE project), Product Refrigeration Storage Data and Equipment Guide, Survey of Central Government Buildings for improving Energy Efficiency (a CPWD–ISHRAE project), ISHRAE Annual Report & Yearbook, Case Study Catalogue of Alternate Energy, Natural Cooling & Low Energy HVAC Solutions, Equipment Product Guide for HVAC products, Guides for Healthcare, Hospitality, Retail & Data Centres, launch of exclusive Student Chapter Website and lastly, sourcing further data for Weather Data File for 32 new cities. The national president has set an ambitious target of 10,000 members for the current year..
